Job Summary

We are looking for a technically sound and result-oriented Procurement Engineer to manage sourcing and procurement of engineering materials, machined components, fabricated parts, bought-out items and subcontracted processes for defence manufacturing projects.

The candidate will work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Stores and Finance teams to ensure timely procurement, competitive costing, supplier quality and uninterrupted material availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle end-to-end procurement activities from purchase requisition to purchase order and delivery.
• Study BOMs, engineering drawings, specifications and technical requirements before sourcing materials.
• Identify, evaluate and develop reliable suppliers for machining, fabrication, sheet metal, casting, forging and bought-out components.
• Float RFQs, collect quotations and prepare comparative statements.
• Negotiate prices, payment terms, delivery schedules and other commercial conditions with suppliers.
• Generate and release purchase orders through ERP/software.
• Follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of critical and long-lead materials.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Quality teams for technical clarification and supplier-related issues.
• Monitor supplier performance based on quality, cost and delivery.
• Coordinate with Quality for incoming inspection, rejection, non-conformance and corrective actions.
• Maintain supplier records, quotations, purchase orders, delivery status and procurement MIS.
• Support cost reduction through alternate vendor development, price benchmarking and negotiation.
• Develop alternate sources for critical components to reduce procurement risks.
• Coordinate with Stores for material receipt, shortages and documentation.
• Ensure required supplier documents such as inspection reports, material certificates, test certificates and traceability records are properly maintained wherever applicable.
• Support internal audits and compliance requirements related to procurement documentation.
• Maintain confidentiality of company, product and project-related information.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of engineering procurement and vendor development.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, BOMs and technical specifications.
• Strong vendor identification and supplier development skills.
• Good negotiation and cost-analysis skills.
• Knowledge of machining, fabrication, sheet metal and engineering components.
• Good understanding of purchase orders, RFQs and comparative statements.
• Good follow-up and coordination skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and ERP systems.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.
• Ability to handle multiple procurement requirements and meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in defence, aerospace, precision engineering, automotive, machine building or engineering manufacturing will be preferred.

Experience in procurement of machined components, fabricated components, sheet-metal parts, fasteners, bought-out components and subcontracted processes will be an advantage.

Desired Candidate Profile

• 3–5 years of relevant experience in Purchase / Procurement / Sourcing / Vendor Development.
• Engineering background preferred.
• Strong commercial negotiation and supplier-management capability.
• Should be comfortable working in a manufacturing environment.
• Should have a proactive approach toward supplier follow-up and problem solving.
• Candidates who can join within a short notice period may be preferred.

Compensation Procurement Engineer Manufacturing Pune

CTC: Up to ₹5.00 Lakh per annum

Salary will be based on relevant experience, technical knowledge and current CTC.
