- Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Design and Development
Design and develop mechanical components, equipment, and Welding Machines
using SolidWorks software.
Prepare conceptual models in SolidWorks for Welding Machines based on
customer requirements.
Prepare fabrication and machinery drawings, including SolidWorks drawings of
mechanical equipment.
Properly interpret design specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with industry
standards and regulations.
Generate production drawings and submittals.
2. Engineering Documentation and Support
Create and maintain engineering documentation, such as Bills of Materials (BOM), and
assembly instructions.
Identify and resolve design-related issues during the development process.
Provide technical support to manufacturing teams to ensure successful implementation of
designs.
3. Design Review and Analysis
Conduct design reviews with project teams to ensure design requirements are met.
Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations to evaluate and optimize mechanical
designs.
Optimize designs for cost, performance, and manufacturability.
Perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve design and manufacturing issues.
4. Project and Time Management
Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
Communicate design changes and updates to project stakeholders clearly and concisely.
5. Continuous Improvement and Industry Awareness
Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance design processes and increase
efficiency. Keep up-to-date with industry trends and technology advancements in SolidWorks and
related software.
Stay up-to-date with the latest technology and developments in the industry to remain at
the forefront of machine design and development.
6. Training and Mentorship
Provide training and mentorship to junior designers to develop their SolidWorks skills and
knowledge.
7. ISO and Compliance
Prepare ISO documentation and follow processes accordingly.
Ensure machines adhere to ergonomic and safety standards and comply with safety and
regulatory standards such as ISO and CE certifications.
8. Supplier and Customer Interaction
Visit suppliers and customers to resolve queries as needed.
9. Design Data Management
Manage design data in Product Data Management (PDM) systems and handle hard copies
of drawings and documents.
10. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize product design for manufacturing.
Competencies and Skills:
1. Expert in the use of AutoCAD and SolidWorks
2. Good grasp of basic hydraulics and pump selection will be added advantage.
3. Ability to work independently on designing systems/sub-systems.
4. Ability to analyse the viability of technical requirements and translate them into design
elements.
5. Ability to conceptualize engineering designs into 3D drawings
6. Technical interpretation and evaluation of 3-D solid models prior to 2-D drawing
conversion.
7. Ability to interpret designs in terms of manufacturability.
8. Knowledge of design and release processes with experience in working on SolidWorks.
9. Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to interact with customers
across the globe.
10. Good time management skills, while being highly motivated and proactive
Education and Experience: Design Engineer
1. Candidate should be from technical background –Mechanical Engineering.
2. Solid works certification is mandatory.
3. 2 to 5 Years. (Machine tool experience is mandatory)
